Kakamega Rolls Out Sh200M Free Farm Inputs to Vulnerable Farmers

Kakamega: Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, accompanied by his Deputy Ayub Savula, launched a 200 million-shilling initiative to distribute free farm inputs to vulnerable farmers at Matungu Subcounty headquarters. During the event, Governor Barasa handed over a 25 kg bag of planting fertiliser and a 2 kg packet of maize seed to a Person with Disability (PWD).

According to Kenya News Agency, the initiative targets low-income families, women, widows, and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) across the 12 subcounties in Kakamega County. The county government aims to support approximately 1,000 vulnerable farmers in Matungu Sub County through this program.

The distribution marks a significant step in assisting those in need, with the county government ensuring that all 12 subcounties will benefit from the free farm inputs. The program underscores the local government’s commitment to improving agricultural productivity and supporting disadvantaged communities.
