Kanduyi: Over 6,000 learners from Kanduyi constituency, Bungoma County are set to benefit from Sh52.4 million in bursaries from the National Government-Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF). Kanduyi Member of Parliament, John Makali, announced that 850 students from each of the eight wards in the constituency will benefit from the fund, with 500 of them being day secondary school students.
According to Kenya News Agency, the 500-day scholars will each receive Sh5,000, while 100 boarders will be granted Sh8,000 each. Additionally, 250 students from various colleges, including Technical Vocational Training (TVETS), will each be awarded Sh10,000. Mr. Makali made the announcement at St. Peters Sang’alo Secondary School during the launch of the bursary program.
During the event, Mr. Makali advised parents not to rely fully on government bursaries but to also engage in income-generating activities to support their children’s educational expenses. He emphasized the importance of financial independence for families to meet schooling costs without constraints.
The MP also took the opportunity to encourage students to maintain discipline and to focus on their studies to achieve good academic results and secure a better future.
