Côte d’Ivoire-AIP/ Frédéric Lapeyre undertakes to communicate ILO calls for tenders to people with disabilities

The Director of the ILO Country Office, Frédéric Lapeyre, has undertaken to communicate to people with disabilities, the job offers of the International Labor Organization (ILO) , during an exchange meeting, with a view to their inclusion in the United Nations system.

“We are going to create a platform for people living with disabilities and I am committed to ensuring that when we communicate the calls for applications for positions, that it will reach you. I will give instructions to human resources managers, so that in its communication strategy, you have access to this information, ”said Frédéric Lapeyre, Friday July 7, 2023, at the headquarters of this organization in Abidjan.

Mr. Lapeyre insisted that the mandate of the ILO is social justice and the fight against all forms of discrimination in the world of work.

“People living with disabilities for the most part are people who can be productive and who can participate in the creation of wealth, in the production of goods and services. If they don't participate, it's not because they can't, but…because the workstation isn't suitable and there's a problem of accessibility,” said the director of the country office of the ILO. In November 2020, during the 340th session of the ILO Governing Body, the proposed policy for disability inclusion was discussed. Members highlighted the need for consultation with persons with disabilities by staff members of the International Labor Office (ILO) and its tripartite mandate.
