Côte d’Ivoire-AIP / Cross-border security: the Prime Minister remobilizes the troops

Korhogo, Ivorian Prime Minister Patrick Achi invited, on Saturday January 22, 2022, to Kong, at the end of a visit to Tougbo, Kafolo and Kong, the defense and security forces of the northern front to stand firm for security and peace in Côte d’Ivoire.

“Both the President of the Republic and ourselves are proud of you. We are counting on you. On behalf of the president, I ask you to hold fast. The fight you are fighting is the good fight. That of protecting his homeland,” said the Prime Minister.

He said he was reassured after a visit to the Kafolo military base and two military camps under construction in Kong, to see an army in harmony with its population. For him the complicity between the forces of order and the population is a double military and social and fraternal shield.

“We were happy to be with you, between brother and what characterizes fraternity. Every time we learn that there has been an attack in a neighboring country we think of our own country. If so far nothing has happened, it’s thanks to you. You are this impassable rampart. In the same way that we count on you, this is how you can count on us, on the President of the Republic,” indicated Patrick Achi.

He encouraged the defense and security forces to work for the security of the country, in order to reassure investors for the development of Côte d’Ivoire.

A meal between the Prime Minister’s delegation and the armed forces ended the visit to the northern front positions in Kong. Brigadier General Gaoussou Ouattara, commander of the northern operational zone, expressed the gratitude of his men to the Prime Minister for this visit which galvanizes the troops.

Before Kafolo and Kong’s visit, the Prime Minister launched the second phase of the government’s social program in Tougbo.

Kafolo recorded two jihadist attacks which caused the death of a dozen elements of the defense and security forces between 2020 and 2021.
