C ôte d’Ivoire-AIP/ The NGO “Albinos, J’assume” donates school kits to 150 children with disabilities

On the initiative of the Association for the well-being of albinos of Bouaké (ABEAB), the NGO “Albinos, J’assume” donated school kits on Friday September 16, 2022 to 150 children with disabilities, including albinos, blind, deaf-mutes and physically disabled.

Through this donation, worth about one million FCFA, this non-governmental organization, led by Miss Bakayoko Adja Assana, intended to encourage reluctant parents to send their children with disabilities to school.

“Our objective, by offering these school kits, is to provide support and above all to encourage parents to send their children with disabilities to school. We want them to understand that although they have a disability, a child enjoys the same rights as all other children, in particular the right to education,” said Ms. Bakayoko.

This donation ceremony was also an opportunity for the first manager of the NGO “Albinos, J’assume” to raise awareness among the parents of children with disabilities on the importance of school.

“I myself am handicapped being albino. But this handicap, which altered my vision, did not prevent me from going and obtaining diplomas. Everything that allowed me today to work as a finance attaché in a ministry. Dear parents, you therefore do not have sufficient reasons not to send your children with disabilities to school, especially since you are offered school kits to make the situation easier for you, ”she raised awareness.

Created in 2019, the NGO “Albinos, J’assume” aims to promote and enforce the rights of people with disabilities throughout the world. It pursues three objectives. Namely, to ensure access for persons with disabilities to education, health, justice and decent employment, to promote the participation of persons with disabilities in the political, public, cultural and recreational life of their respective countries and to facilitate the inclusion of people with disabilities in society.
