Mr. Komenan and members of the civil society organization expressed their concern during discussions with religious leaders from the Muslim community of Sikensi undermined by a disagreement between religious leaders.

The members of the APD successively met with the president of the Council of Imams, Mosques and Islamic Affairs (COSIM) of Sikensi, El Hadj Diaby Moustapha at his home adjoining the Al Houda mosque located at the bus station and with the dignitaries of the Al Bayane mosque, adjoining the city’s large market.

The visit of the APD team to the religious guides of Sikensi was part of the celebration of the 26th edition of the national day of peace.

The leader of the APD invited Muslim leaders to strengthen cohesion within their community and prepare to work with their co-religionists, Christian counterparts and other religious denominations in the country, in order to offer Côte d’Ivoire, a “consensual” body of recourse in the event of misunderstanding and conflicts caused by political actors.

“We really need this body because it is where we go, mostly, on Fridays and Sundays to pray to God,” Komenan said.

The hosts of the APD welcomed the proposal and marked their support for the need to consolidate social cohesion, while specifying that the daily prayers in their mosques are dedicated to maintaining a climate of peace in the country and in the world. .

The religious leaders expressed blessings to the authorities of the country, in this case the Head of State, to the members of the APD and in favor of peace throughout the national territory.

The APD delegation had previously attended the mass of peace at the parish of Saint Raphaël in the Sikensi A district. The parish priest of the Church, N’Guessan Dibré Sandrin, urged the faithful to be “craftsmen” of peace, referring in particular to the statements of the Apostle Paul and Pope Francis.
