TSANDI: Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila called on business people to promote business activities across the country in order to lead to growth.
Kuugongelwa-Amadhila made the call during the opening of the third edition of the Tsandi Annual Trade Fair and Business Expo (TATFE) on Monday.
She said, the expo demonstrates the commitment of the local authority to leverage the mechanism of the exposition to promote local businesses and the development of its town, following in the footsteps of other more established towns.
“Local authorities are key stakeholders in national development, they deliver key services to communities and businesses,” she said.
According to the Premier, an increase in the presence of businesses also means an increase in the demand for services and will require investment in public infrastructure and the capacities of local authorities.
Namibian businesses should therefore continue to explore business opportunities in the country as the country has an abundance of opportunities that await to be tapped, especially in the upcoming towns and rural areas, which have not been sufficiently explored, she said.
Meanwhile, Urban and Rural Development Minister Erastus Uutoni stated that the TATFE will boost the village's local economy by creating a platform for local businesses and small and medium enterprises and also attract investors to come and invest in Tsandi in terms of property development.
“At this expo and through various exhibitions, we will also be presented with an opportunity to learn of products and services and investment opportunities available at this unique village that is strategically located,” he said.
On her part, Chairperson of Tsandi Village Council Selma Kadhila indicated that the expo is aimed at boosting the economy of the village and transforming it to another level.
The expo which held its first edition, in 2018, was put on hold due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
The event which started on 28 October will conclude on 04 November 2023 and is held under the theme 'Reviving the local economy, cultural diversity, tourism and enhancement for adequate service delivery'.
