Cote d’Ivoire-AIP/Students from Dabou trained in the prevention of non-violence in schools

Students from the department of Dabou were trained on Friday March 24 and Saturday March 25, 2023, in the meeting room of the Grands Ponts Regional Council, on awareness, prevention and management of conflicts in schools as part of the Youth Committed to Non-Violence (JENOV) program. This activity will take place simultaneously in Dabou and Bouaké, then in Agboville and Yamoussoukro. It is an initiative of former Ivorian scholarship recipients of the American Department’s exchange programs in collaboration with the United States Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire. According to the team leader of the Achille Comoé program, it ultimately aims to provide a peaceful school environment, allowing teachers to work properly and students to conduct their studies in peaceful conditions. Human rights clubs, youth associations, and especially students took part in panels related to non-violence, civics training and the inaugural conference on peacebuilding in schools . One after the other, the panelists Zoukpo Stéphane, Deputy Director of Foresight at the Regional Council and former fescist, Roch Melèdje jurist and Grah Djoupro, Head of youth organization and former fescist, made participants aware of the harmful effects of violence in schools. , respect for the symbols and institutions of the State, as well as the penal sanctions incurred. These general public awareness activities, together with capacity building, and messages will make it possible to keep in touch with the participants and above all to carry out monitoring and evaluation to ensure the impact of the project on the learners.
