Côte d’Ivoire-AIP/Minister Laurent Tchagba in Morocco for the 3rd International Conference on Water and Climate (Press Release)

The Minister of Water and Forests, Laurent Tchagba is leading a delegation to Fez in Morocco from Thursday July 06 to Friday July 07, 2023 to the third international water and climate conference (CIEC 3), focused on “the management of basins, key for adaptation and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, reports a press release sent to the AIP.

This international meeting will be another opportunity for the emissary of the Ivorian Government to carry the voice of Côte d’Ivoire for integrated water resources management (IWRM). Laurent Tchagba’s agenda includes a ministerial session under the theme “what commitment on the management of water resources at the basin level to accelerate adaptation to climate change and the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDG)”.

This ministerial session is an opportunity to discuss commitments on the management of water resources at the level of Ivorian basins while highlighting their roles in achieving the SDGs and in the implementation of appropriate adaptation and resilience policies. to the impacts of climate change.

Five thematic sessions are also planned, led by experts and actors from different backgrounds aimed at deepening the debate on more specific issues, namely innovation and technologies for water saving, groundwater management issues and perspectives, water governance for better intersectoral coherence, mobilization of water resources.

Côte d’Ivoire, like other regions of the world, is experiencing the effects of climate change which are manifested in particular by drought inducing a situation of water stress, which calls for optimal management of water resources.

This forum is the right place for the Ivorian Minister of Water and Forests, a hydrologist engineer by training, to identify and promote good practices in the implementation of integrated water resources management (IWRM), to meet all these challenges, through the sharing of experiences and concerted communication.

This third CIEC 3 is co-organized by the international network of basin organizations (INBO), the Ministry of Water and Equipment of the Kingdom of Morocco (MEE) and by the World Water Council (CME) .
