Côte d’Ivoire AIP/An NGO sets up departmental committees for the monitoring and management of natural resources in Bounkani

Bouna, The NGO Equal Access International (EAI) set up departmental committees for the monitoring and management of natural resources in Bounkani, Thursday, January 20, 2022 in Bouna, as part of the Resilience for Peace Project (R4P), funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
A regional monitoring committee had been set up during a reflection workshop held from August 01 to 03, 2021 in Bouna. These newly constituted departmental committees emanate from the working group, an entity bringing together the technical structures in the field of natural resource management.
These committees aim to provide lasting solutions to the vulnerability factors of the communities in connection with the management of natural resources, in particular crop damage, conflicts related to gold panning, pressure on the lowlands.
They were installed in the presence of the secretary general of the prefecture of Doropo, Abro Koutouan Alphonse, who welcomed this initiative by the NGO EAI, thus making it possible to rationalize the management of resources and contribute to peace in the Bounkani region.
The Resilience for Peace (R4P) project is a five-year USAID-funded initiative to build community resilience and learning in the face of current security challenges in the northern border areas of Côte d’Ivoire. Its main objective is to carry out actions that reduce the socio-economic vulnerabilities of communities in these areas.
