Côte d’Ivoire records many achievements in gender equality (Minister)

Côte d’Ivoire has recorded many achievements in gender equality and the advancement of women with a strengthened legal framework and institutional arrangements being put in place, noted the Minister of Woman, Family and Child, Nassénéba Touré , during the second day of the Generation Equality Forum in Paris (France).

“The Constitution of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire which is our compass, obliges us, in its articles 36 and 37, very fortunately, to promote women and young girls in elected assemblies, as well as their appointment in public administrations and businesses” , underlined Mrs. Touré, in a press release sent on Friday July 2, 2021 to the AIP.

She signified that this forum is an opportunity for Côte d’Ivoire to strengthen the mobilization of all development actors around the vision of the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara, which is to build a society of justice and justice. ‘equality.

Nassénéba Touré indicated that Alassane Ouattara, according to her, is the 1st Ivorian “very committed” in the solidarity campaign for gender equality, entitled He For She.

At the opening of the forum, the French Head of State, Emmanuel Macron, wanted this meeting to be “a concrete decision-making action summit to make this equality a reality”.

The Generation Equality Forum is a global gathering led by UN Women which aims to “accelerate progress” in terms of gender equality. It takes place from June 30 to July 2, 2021 and is co-organized by France and Mexico, where a first phase took place in March.

For this international meeting, 1,000 commitments were made by the participants for an amount of 40 billion dollars (more than 20,000 billion FCFA) over five years. Several African and European heads of state participate in face-to-face and by videoconference.
