Onwuchelu Michael Emeka elected new president of the Nigerian community of Côte d’Ivoire

The economic operator, Onwuchelu Michael Emeka, was elected on Saturday May 29, 2021, in Abidjan, new president of the Muslim community living in Côte d’Ivoire, after a vote at the regional school of the municipality of Treichville, indicates an information note sent to the AIP.

With 620 votes, Mr. Onwuchelu beat his opponents Adekunle Ayodelé Taofeek (83 votes) and Chukwujekwu Omenife Paul (53 votes). He is now called upon to defend the interests of the said community, to always establish a perfect understanding between Nigerians living in Côte d’Ivoire, to consolidate peaceful cohabitation between Ivorians and Nigerians, etc. For this, he calls on his Nigerian brothers to show solidarity.

“I am happy that this election was held in a good atmosphere. Glory be to the Almighty. This is the opportunity for me to invite all Nigerians living on Ivorian soil to remain united and united. Côte d’Ivoire is our second homeland and we must stand in solidarity with Côte d’Ivoire to which we owe a lot for its legendary hospitality. Thank you to the Ivorian authorities with the Head of State, President Alassane Ouattara in the front line, ”he declared.

In order to show the perfect collaboration and cohesion which characterize these two English-speaking and French-speaking peoples, the new national guide of the Nigerian community, announced the forthcoming holding of a sports meeting between its nationals and Ivorian entities.

The participants in the meeting also proceeded to two other ballots which saw the election of Ononiwu (541 votes) as secretary general and Dada Oluwatosin Samuel (609 votes) as auditor.

Onwuchelu Emeka is therefore the very first democratically elected president within the Nigerian community of Côte d’Ivoire because his predecessors until then had been appointed, we learned.
