The Minister of State, Minister of Defense, Tiéné Birahima Ouattara went, Thursday, June 17, 2021, to bring the comfort of the government, to the wounded of the attack of Tehini currently taking care of the Abidjan military hospital (HMA).
“My visit this morning to the military hospital in Abidjan is part of the structures under supervision, but with a special character, as you know following the events which occurred in the department of Tehini on Saturday last, we unfortunately recorded injuries to certain soldiers and gendarmes. It was my duty as the first person in charge of Defense, to come here to bring the compassion, the comfort of the President of the Republic, supreme head of the Armies, ”explained Birahima Ouattara.
On Saturday June 12, 2021, at around 7 pm, a reconnaissance patrol of the Armed Forces of Côte d’Ivoire was the object of a complex attack, on the Téhini-Togolokayé axis (border town of Burkina-Faso). It is an ambush with the use of an improvised explosive device in contact with which one of the vehicles jumped, said a statement from the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
The toll was three dead and four wounded. The three deceased people are two soldiers and a gendarme, it is recalled.
For Mr. Ouattara, it was “essential to visit the wounded in Tehini at the request of the President of the Republic to give them our support, our comfort at this difficult time they are going through”.
