Côte d’Ivoire-AIP / PTUA: The Autonomous District of Abidjan receives maintenance equipment for parks and gardens

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance handed Thursday 1 st July 2021 the maintenance of parks and gardens in the autonomous district equipment as part of the urban transport project Abidjan (PTUA).

Worth FCFA 115 million, this equipment includes a water tanker, an agricultural tractor, a trailer, six chainsaws, four brush cutters, four lawn mowers, small gardening equipment and personal protective equipment. .

“This equipment is made available to the maintenance service of the parks and gardens of the district and I sincerely hope that they will contribute to strengthening its capacity”, declared Minister Amédé Kouakou in the presence of his colleague for the Environment and the Sustainable Development, Jean-Luc Assi.

He invited the beneficiary service to make good use of it, because this material will be monitored in accordance with the provisions of the African Development Bank (ADB) in terms of good governance, added the Minister.

Minister-Governor Robert Beugré Mambé welcomed the initiative which will contribute to the optimal implementation of the powers devolved to the Autonomous District of Abidjan, in terms of promoting environmental maintenance and improving the living environment of the populations.

The governor specified that this donation will help strengthen the district’s achievements, technical and operational capacities and improve the environment in the construction of road infrastructure.

This equipment is made available to the maintenance service of the parks and gardens of the District.

Greening the space by integrating the framework of sociability is a governance issue for the Government. It is on the basis of this requirement that the Autonomous District of Abidjan has undertaken a green space development program for several years.

Thus, within the framework of the PTUA, an emphasis has been placed on building the capacities of the Autonomous District of Abidjan to fully assume this role with the acquisition of this equipment.
