Côte d’Ivoire-AIP / Minister Kaba Nialé launches the 2021-2025 cooperation program with UNICEF

The Minister of Planning and Development, Kaba Nialé, proceeded on Thursday June 10, 2021 to the effective launch of the cooperation program with UNICEF (CPD 2021-2025) adopted in February 2021, to support government actions in favor of women, youth and children in Côte d’Ivoire.

This program, whose indicative budget is estimated at CFAF 106 billion, is aligned with the 2021-2025 National Development Plan (PND), particularly with its axes 2 and 3 relating respectively to the development of human capital and the promotion of employment, and strengthening inclusion, national solidarity and social action. The 2021-2025 CDP is also linked to the national sustainable development objectives.

For Minister Kaba Nialé, in order to ensure the respect, protection and satisfaction of the rights of children, women and young people in the areas of health, education and employment, the CPD 2021-2025 intends to contribute to the creation of conditions for equitable access of its targets to quality basic social services.

This program focuses on systematic vaccination, universal and equitable access to education, protection of children against violence and exploitation, birth registration, improvement of hygiene and access. water and sanitation infrastructure.

In addition, important strategic changes will mark this new cycle of cooperation compared to that of 2017-2021.

It is a multisectoral and convergent intervention in the northern and western regions of the country as well as in certain peri-urban areas. According to the UNICEF country representative, Marc Vincent, the local governance decentralization sectors strengthened with other United Nations organizations, as well as the strengthening of communication for behavior change and the mobilization of the private sector.

Between 2016 and 2020, the number of children out of school or of primary and lower secondary school age fell by half. The rate of birth registration on time has increased by 13%, as the rate of childhood immunizations has increased by 30% between 2016 and 2019, according to UNICEF.
