Côte d’Ivoire-AIP / International / ECOWAS ministers and experts validate the 2020-2045 regional infrastructure master plan (Press release)

The ECOWAS Commission organized, on June 1, 2021, an online meeting of ministers in charge of transport, telecommunications / ICT, energy and water resources of member states of ECOWAS with a view to validating the ECOWAS regional infrastructure master plan 2020-2045, reports a press release sent to the IPA on Wednesday, June 9.

The ministers ‘meeting was preceded by an Experts’ meeting which also took place online on May 31, 2021.

The objective of the meeting was to validate the study report of the ECOWAS Regional Infrastructure Master Plan and recommend its adoption by the ECOWAS Council of Ministers. The master plan is a strategic framework for the development of regional infrastructure in order to meet the economic growth and development needs of the ECOWAS region over the period 2020-2045.

The master plan included 201 projects including 145 investment projects and 56 “soft” projects (technical studies, preparatory activities for projects, institutional reforms and capacity building) at a cost of 122 billion US dollars over a 25-year horizon (2020-2045) .

Following the presentation of the report of the Experts meeting on the master plan, the ministers congratulated the Experts for their diligent work and unanimously approved the report. They then recommended the adoption of the Regional Infrastructure Master Plan to the ECOWAS Council of Ministers.
